About My Political Side 12/31/2011

_So, why a political blog?  Why not just put political posts up on my regular blog?  Couple of reasons.  One, there are a lot of people who aren’t interested in politics and don’t want to be slapped in the face with them when they go to visit someone’s blog – unless they’re looking for politics.  My regular blog has my day-to-day thoughts and observations on family life and funny things, generally.  And I didn’t want to offend my non-political blogulars with my politics.  If they come here, knowing it’s about politics, then it’s no surprise.  Secondly, this election has re-ignited a deep down flame of mine.  The first presidential election I was able to vote in, was 1984, and until now, I haven’t been as excited about politics as I was then.  Oh sure, 1992 was pretty intense, but not in a good way for me.

Now, that being said, you need to know a thing or 2 right up front: Conservative, Republican, Christian, American, Woman, Wife, Home-school Mom.  So, you’ve got the labels all nice and tidy in your head, let’s be clear about a few things, okay?  For me, this race is NOT about race and it’s NOT about gender.  It’s about certain ideologies.  If Palin were the Liberal and Obama the Conservative, I’d vote for Obama, because I don’t care what color a person’s skin is and I don’t care if they have a penis or vagina – that’s not what I’m voting for.  I’m voting for the candidate/party that most closely reflects my ideals of what’s best for my country.  Not specific groups in my country, but my country as a whole; united, indivisible, one nation under God, with liberty and justice for all.  Not some, or a few, not the rich, poor, black, white, purple, swirly or any combination thereof, but ALL.  To borrow a line from Spock – “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.” And THAT’S how I view politics.

Now let’s get this show on the road.
